[Shaking Beef - Bò Lúc Lắc]

Shaking Beef is a light main dish which is perfect for summer feast. Usually compliments with a simple or herby rice. The beef is tangy so it can be over power with strong rice flavour.

Ingredients:

Serves: 2

  • 250g lean beef, cut into 1-2cm cubes
  • 85g watercress
  • 1/4 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 to 3 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped roughly into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 4 to 5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 coffee spoons MSG (not needed if you halve the soy sauce)
  • 2 coffee spoons sugar

Cooking Method:

  1. Marinate the beef with soy sauce, dark soy, msg and sugar for 10-15 minutes.
  2. To make the dressing mix the sugar, vinegar and 2 tablespoon of oil in a bowl. Stir well to make all the sugar disolve. Put it to one side.
  3. Heat up a wok with the remaining oil until very hot. Add the garlic and fry until golden. Add the beef in and stir fry for 30 second to 1 minute until the beef is brown.
  4. For the salad bed mix the watercress, onion and the dressing.
